In the summer of 2020, I was one of a group of artists selected for a year-long project to create artworks as part of Edwin Morgan’s centenary celebrations. Edwin Morgan was a poet and translator who worked in Scots and English, and was already an influential poet in my life. It has been utterly wonderful diving into his life and work, learning about Beowulf, and gay Glasgow (the bisexual capital of Europe, according to EM) and the twentieth century through his long-lived eyes.
I was given free reign in what to do and decided early on to have an experiment in a medium I love, but have never dipped my toe into before: podcasting. Yes! I became one of those made-a-podcast-in-lockdown people, how do you do. Except my podcast took two to three lockdowns to make because someone locked me in here with a toddler.
The podcast is about Morgan and his life and work, but also about my life and work as a mother. It was partly born out of a mothers writing group I was part of from March to July 2020. It’s super personal, but also very informative because that’s my jig.
You can get it here or subscribe on Apple podcasts, Google podcasts, Spotify, or pretty much any other podcatcher.
